Indrahar Pass: The Gateway to Chamba
The Indrahar Pass Trek is one of the most breathtaking high-altitude crossings in the Dhauladhar Range. Standing at 4,342m, the pass connects the vibrant Kangra Valley with the mystical Ravi Valley in Chamba. Starting from Chandigarh, this 5-day journey takes you from the bustling McLeod Ganj through the famous Triund ridge and the boulder-strewn Lahesh Caves, culminating in a summit that offers a dramatic “wall view” of the Mani Mahesh Kailash and the Pir Panjal ranges.
Trip Highlights
- The Dhauladhar Crest: Reach the summit of Indrahar Pass (4,342m) for a literal bird's-eye view of the Kangra and Chamba valleys.
- Triund Ridge: Spend a night on the famous Triund ridge, offering spectacular views of the moon rising over the Dhauladhar peaks.
- Lahesh Caves: Experience high-altitude camping near the natural rock shelters of Lahesh Caves, used for centuries by Gaddi shepherds.
- Snow Bed Crossing: Depending on the season, navigate through permanent snow beds and steep rocky gullies leading to the pass.
- McLeod Ganj Culture: Begin and end your journey in the spiritual heart of the Tibetan community in India.
