Moon Peak: The Dhauladhar Summit Quest
Moon Peak (4,650m) is a prominent summit located in the Dhauladhar range, standing tall behind the famous Triund hill. Unlike regular treks, this is a “semi-technical” summit quest that takes you across the Indrahar Pass and onto a rocky ridge leading to the peak. Starting from Chandigarh, this 5-day journey offers a true mountaineering experience, featuring steep snow slopes, boulder fields, and a dramatic summit that feels like standing on the edge of the world.
Trip Highlights
- The Ultimate Summit: Conquer Moon Peak (4,650m) for an unparalleled 360-degree view of the Chamba Valley and the high peaks of the Pir Panjal range.
- Indrahar Pass Crossing: Traverse the historic Indrahar Pass (4,350m), an ancient shepherd route connecting the Kangra and Chamba districts.
- Lahesh Caves: Experience a unique night of "cave camping" at the natural rock shelter of Lahesh Cave, a traditional stop for Gaddi shepherds.
- Snow & Rock Challenge: Navigate through challenging boulder fields and steep snow gullies that provide a perfect introduction to high-altitude mountaineering.
- Triund & Beyond: Pass through the famous meadows of Triund and continue into the rugged, less-traveled upper reaches of the Dhauladhars.
