Mural Danda Trek

The adventure begins with a scenic drive from the plains of Chandigarh to the "Queen of Hills," Shimla. As you wind through the Himalayan foothills, the air turns crisp and the vegetation shifts from deciduous trees to towering pine and deodar forests.

• Duration: ~3.5–4 hours drive.
• Activity: Evening stroll on the Mall Road and Ridge to acclimatize to the higher altitude before the trek begins.

Leaving the bustle of Shimla behind, you will drive deeper into the heart of the Pabbar Valley toward Sungri. This route offers breathtaking views of apple orchards and the Sutlej River flowing deep in the valley. Sungri is a quiet, beautiful hamlet that serves as the perfect basecamp.

• Highlight: A sunset view over the snow-capped peaks of the Kinnaur range.

Today, the physical trekking begins. You’ll leave the motorable road and hike through dense forests of oak and rhododendron. The trail ascends gradually toward the meadows of Ropra, a lush clearing used by local shepherds.

• Terrain: Moderate ascent through forest trails.
• Stay: Overnight camping under the stars at Ropra.

This is the summit day! You will trek from Ropra to the majestic Mural Top. From the summit, you are rewarded with a 360-degree panoramic view of the Greater Himalayas, including the peaks of Kullu and Kinnaur. After soaking in the views, you will descend back to the familiar campsite at Ropra.

• Highlight: Reaching the summit and the sense of accomplishment at the top.
• Distance: Approximately 6–8 km round trip.

On your final day, you will retrace your steps from Ropra back down to Sungri. After a quick rest and a final mountain meal, you’ll begin the long drive back through Shimla, eventually descending back to Chandigarh (or continuing to Delhi) to conclude your journey.
